This course will provide an introduction to the current uses of
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), discuss each of the four
components of EDI, as well as several alternatives for implementing
EDI in a smal to medium-sized enterprise (SME).

DoD through
EDI

This course will provide an introduction to the implementation of
EDI within the Federal Government, and more specifically the Department
of Defense (DoD), which is directed towareds satisfying the requirements
of the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act (FASA) of 1994.

This course provides an understanding of the basic functions of EDI
software, options and utilities available across the EDI software
market, and how these options and utilities can relate to the existing
applications, file structure, and databases in your enterprise.
This course assumes that participants have a basic knowledge of EDI.

INTRODUCTION to

MAPPING and
APPLICATION
INTEGRATION

EDI mapping is the process of taking business document information and
creating EDI documents based on that information, and vice versa. This
course will describe the ANSI X12 standard in considerable detail and will
examine the process of converting typical business documents and application
information into EDI documents based on the X12 standard. (This course
assumes that participants have a basic knowledge of EDI.)

EDM 101:
LEGACY
DATA
MANAGEMENT

Legacy Data Management (LDM) refers to the process of identifying historical
information and evaluating potential requirements and solutions for the
long-term storage or usage of that information. This course will provide
an introduction to the process required to convert paper based legacy data to
a digital format. It introduces the scanning and imaging technologies
currently available and the software and hardware requirements necessary
for performing conversions.

SGML
ORIENTATION

The Standard Generalized markup Language (SGML) is an international standard
which enables the electronic exchange of documents. This course will provide
an introduction to the definitions, components, and background of SGML. In
addition, the software and hardware requirements for different SGML
implementation strategies will be discussed along with step-by-step
implementation guidelines for each stategy.

Technical Data Exchange (TDE) is the electronic exchange of technical
information, such as engineering drawings, technical manuals and illustrations,
and scanned images. This course will provide an overview of the standards
that address the exchange of the various types of technical data found
in the acquisition and manufacturing environments.
