Department of Engineering
Overview
The department of engineering is a brand new program established
in the last two years. This move fills the long felt void for
a professional, industry oriented engineering undergraduate program
among CAU students
and faculty. The strong research atmosphere within the department
offers unique opportunities to undergraduates for a hands-on research
experience that will give them an important edge in oday's competetive
job market. In addition dedicated faculty offer innovative courses
and programs to engender excellence in many next generation technological
areas. In addition, all faculty members are closely involved with
one-on-one mentoring
with undergraduate students, providing advice and guidance through
out the program.
Academic Programs
The department offers a rich and flexible four year Bachelor of
Science (B.S) degree. Currently, four specializations are offered
within the B.S program, namely:
civil,
chemical,
electrical
and
mechanical engineering.
Research
- ViSiDeL
- Visualization Simulation and Design Lab is a research facility
serving as an umbrella for several research thrusts directed at
seamlessly integrating design activity with simulation and visualization
tools, using state-state-of-art technologies such as Virtual Reality,
Object Oriented Modeling paradigms and Integrated Product and
Process Design. Sponsored activties include the
Army High Performance Computing Research Center (AHPCRC)
and the
Atlanta Electronic Commerce Resource Center (AECRC)
- LIMS
- The NASA Large Intelligent
Maetrials and Structures facitlity is a research facility dedicated
to the prototyping and development of smart structures
for defence and commercial uses.
- CEPER
- The Center of Excellence in Pollution and Environmental Research
is an EPA funded effort directed
at solving critical environmental problems such as contaminant
dispersion and remediation.
