Department of Engineering


Overview

The department of engineering is a brand new program established in the last two years. This move fills the long felt void for a professional, industry oriented engineering undergraduate program among CAU students and faculty.The strong research atmosphere within the department offers unique opportunities to undergraduates for a hands-on research experience that will give them an important edge in oday's competetive job market. In addition dedicated faculty offer innovative courses and programs to engender excellence in many next generation technological areas. In addition, all faculty members are closely involved with one-on-one mentoring with undergraduate students, providing advice and guidance through out the program.


Academic Programs

The department offers a rich and flexible four year Bachelor of Science (B.S) degree. Currently, four specializations are offered within the B.S program, namely: civil, chemical, electrical and mechanical engineering.


Research

ViSiDeL
Visualization Simulation and Design Lab is a research facility serving as an umbrella for several research thrusts directed at seamlessly integrating design activity with simulation and visualization tools, using state-state-of-art technologies such as Virtual Reality, Object Oriented Modeling paradigms and Integrated Product and Process Design. Sponsored activties include the Army High Performance Computing Research Center (AHPCRC) and the Atlanta Electronic Commerce Resource Center (AECRC)
LIMS
The NASA Large Intelligent Maetrials and Structures facitlity is a research facility dedicated to the prototyping and development of smart structures for defence and commercial uses.
CEPER
The Center of Excellence in Pollution and Environmental Research is an EPA funded effort directed at solving critical environmental problems such as contaminant dispersion and remediation.
